LYNDA DURRANT

Author

Every one of Lynda Durrant’s historic fiction novels for young readers has won awards and accolades, including the American Library Association’s Best Books for Young Readers in the Field of Social Studies, the New York City Library’s 100 Best Books for Young Readers, Ohioana Library awards, an award from the American Folklore Society, and starred reviews from Kirkus, Publishers Weekly, School Library Journal, and The Bulletin for Children’s Books.

Her novels have taken place during the colonial and Federalist period, and the American Civil War era. Her specialty is writing historically accurate novels about the forgotten heroines of American history and how they link our nation’s past to the present.  Lynda’s most recent novel is for adult readers. The House at Hurds’ Corners was published by her local historical society as a fund raiser for her township’s bicentennial. The novel takes place in the first year the author’s house was built, in 1851.

Lynda has both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from the University of Washington in Seattle. She lives on a horse farm in rural Ohio and continues to write.
