AINSLEY DOTY

Author

Ainsley became a writer at the age of seven when she rhymed “laugh”  with “giraffe” in a poem about the zoo (her mom accused her of “copying,” which is how Ainsley knew the poem was good). A passion for words carried Ainsley through high school, through university (Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education), and back to high school again, this time as an English teacher. Unfortunately, teachers have to follow a lot of rules,  so Ainsley decided to go back to being a student once more. She completed a Master of Arts degree at Dalhousie University where she ate seafood, toured pubs, and pumped out a book-length thesis on Indigenous theatre. Still hopelessly in love with the written word, Ainsley began a second career as a writer. She moved to Toronto for an internship at The Walrus magazine, and she never left. Ainsley currently works as a freelance journalist and copywriter. She lives with her ridiculously attractive husband, their two hilarious kids, and a smelly golden retriever. THE BLOODWOOD SOCIETY is Ainsley’s first novel.
