Aiesha Drew Halstead is the Manager of Curatorial Projects for the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond. She managed the installation of Kehinde Wiley’s statue Rumors of War in front of the VMFA in fall 2019 as well as the museum’s educational and interpretive programming around the artwork.

She has eighteen years of museum management experience, and at VMFA she oversees projects for ten curatorial areas, including gallery rotations and art purchase endowments. She has managed dozens of exhibitions, including IMPEACH, A Small Band, InLight, and Fabergé and Russian Decorative Arts. She earned a BA in Communication, Arts, and Design from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Master’s in Architectural History from the University of Virginia. Halstead believes that art and art history are valuable tools in learning about the world around us and advocates for the value of art and art education in society. She lives in Richmond.
