Zoie Noelle Brogdon, known as “ZoZo Noelle,” is a champion equestrian, artist, filmmaker, author, and rising cultural voice at the intersection of sport, fashion, film, publishing, and representation.

Zoie began riding at age nine with the Compton Jr. Equestrians (formerly Compton Jr. Posse), the nonprofit riding camp connected to the Compton Cowboys. Since then, she has built an accomplished competitive career as a 2021 USHJA Zone 10 Individual Gold Medalist, 2021 USHJA National Reserve Champion, and 2021 Zone 10 Horse of the Year Champion. She is also the first Black rider to compete for the equestrian team at UCLA, where she majors in African American Studies and minors in Film, Television and Digital Media.

She has appeared in major Beyoncé cultural moments, including the music video “Daddy Lessons” from the critically acclaimed album Lemonade, the 94th Academy Awards’ tribute to Venus and Serena Williams, and the Netflix Beyoncé Bowl Halftime Show. Her story has also been featured in the PBS documentary We Are Here: A Western Heart, an English Saddle, GoPro and AFROPUNK’s Black People Do…Equestrian, and the Sports Illustrated online feature “Horse Girl.”

Zoie has been featured by Sports Illustrated, Financial Times, Ebony, Andscape/ESPNW, Vista Magazine, and CBS, where she was recognized as a Hometown Hero for her accomplishments and commitment to inspiring younger riders. She has trained with Olympic gold medalist Will Simpson and Olympic silver medalist Jessica Springsteen, who now serves as a mentor.

Zoie has published two articles in prominent national equestrian magazines and is now expanding her voice into children’s literature with a forthcoming book based on her own equestrian journey.
