Born in Greenwich Connecticut, Kevin Carr is one of four children raised by his single parent mother partly in the projects of Connecticut, until he was nine when his mother decided to relocate the family to Orlando, Florida for the chance at a better life. He chose to attend The Florida State University (FSU). Kevin also completed a Masters degree in Public Administration and Policy and Human Resource Development. During his time in grad school, Kevin developed a special niche for helping student-athletes and he became highly regarded on the campus as the “go-to-guy” for helping student-athletes deal with the often difficult transition from high school to college.
Kevin worked at FSU when the department received the Award of Excellence for an Academic Support Program for Student-Athletes from "College Athletic Management Magazine" in 1996. After three seasons at FSU, Kevin was recruited to the corporate side of development when he assumed the position for INROADS/Central Florida in his home town of Orlando. In 1997-2001 Kevin was recruited by Michigan State University and served as the university’s first Associate Director of Student-Athlete Support Services and Director of Life Skills.
In 2004 Carr was recognized by the Network Journal Magazine as one of their “Top 40 Forty Under Forty” achievement award winners for his significant levels of professional success and substantial contributions to the community. He was also awarded the 2010 YGB Award from his peers for his entrepreneurial spirit for developing new business within a corporation. He is happily married to his wife of 12 years Jenise Carr and they have three children and reside in New York.
